Welcome To The Provincial Grand Chapter Of Leicestershire And Rutland………….

One Journey -- One Organisation

Exaltation into the royal arch can be both profound and beautiful as well as being fun and enjoyable and is the completion of the four steps known as your journey in pure antient masonry.

The craft degrees are concerned with the individual and his personal development. First, being brought into masonic light in the privacy of a lodge; second, expanding his research into the whole of nature and science, and the third, contemplating what he wants to achieve during the remander of his life. The royal arch then continues with the fourth step, the exploration of the spiritual aspects of life.

Every master mason should aspire to complete this stage in their masonic journey which opens up the possibility of new friendships and allows you to experience a new dimension to your freemasonry and provides a better understanding of what it means to be a freemason.

In leicestershire and rutland we have 27 different chapters and you can join any chapter in any of our 9 masonic centres in order to widen your masonic friendships and experiences.

Your own craft lodge has a royal arch representative who will be able to advise and guideyou on how to complete this important fourth stage in pure antient masonry….So talk to him.

The ceremony of exaltation is one of the mostbeautiful in freemasonry and is one not to be missed.

Visit Another Chapter

Visiting is an essential part of Freemasonry and when you visit other Chapters you increase your circle of companions.

What Happens At Chapter Meetings?
These take a similar form to Craft meetings, in that we open the Chapter, present certificates, approve minutes and carry out other items of business such as elections, reports, etc. However, the main part of our meeting is the ceremony of Exaltation of a new candidate. This takes the form of a play which recounts events based on the rebuilding of King Solomon's Temple by the children of Israel on their return from their Babylonian captivity. There are also associated Lectures explaining the historical, symbolical and mystical knowledge of Royal Arch Masonry. As in a Craft Lodge, there is progression of officers towards the chairs of the three Principals who govern the Chapter. Members proudly wear their Chapter jewel in Craft Lodges, white for a Companion, red for a Principal or past Principal and tri-coloured for a Provincial Grand Officer.
